Mash-up

Mash-up

A lot of times, people don't know what they want. Her body trimmed of all fat, her skin tan as a carrot, her voice the voice of the tobacco industry itself even when she's trying to talk normally, yet she doesn’t see the need to put herself in the public eye. Many of China’s new entrepreneurs like her want to keep greeting guests, handing glasses to assistants, posing for pictures. Apple’s share price fluctuates by the minute despite her being almost unknown in the wider world. Wearing an imperial blue plunging V-neck top with tight satiny pants, The CEO of Apple Computer is a master of hype, hyperbole and the catchy phrase. And this is just for daytime. There she was, DONATELLA VERSACE, a 49-year-old paper recycler who has just emerged not only as the richest entrepreneur in China, but also as the wealthiest self-made woman in the world. “It's very character-building”, she was saying through that thick Calabrian accent. The heaviness of being successful has suddenly arrived at the top of the list with a net worth of $3.4bn. "It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life". We were also captivated by the self-deprecating humor of this ''Italian mama'' but Donatella is in a class of her own when it comes to elusiveness.
