Decompose, Perverse

In this building, i tried to design it such a way as to capture the true meaning of the words decompose and Perverse.

Decomposing involves a process of 'braking down' into its component parts and therefore i tried to capture this in the top level with a series of units falling apart. This was to coincide with Ricky Swallows artwork which appeared to be wasting away in a very natural sense. The building thus appears to be sinking away and drowning into the earth below.

Perverse is word used to describe something that stems to oppose or contradict. Therefore from the curvature of the gallery and abundance of light throughout the space, i wanted to transform this into an area marked by sharp edges and a sense of claustrophobia; a dungeon perhaps. This reflects the artwork by Patricia Piccinini who contradicts human thought through the use of personification.
